New Year's Resolutions, Part I: In Which I Become a Siesta

Siesta, Siesta!  Beth Moore.
Tsh Oxenreider, an enviably together mommy who blogs about organization and simplicity, posted a list of 20 questions to reflect on 2011 over at (in)Courage last week.  I started to go through them and realized that the area where I had the greatest return of investment last was not at all the area where I had spent the most time.

I spent lots of time crowding my brain with mediocre novels and stuff from the internet, but the greatest ROI I had was on the time I spent on the things of God -- specifically, reading scripture.  So this year, I'm making a resolution to prioritize Word-reading by making time for it at the beginning of the day and not just at the end when I'm about to drop to dead.  This will mean waking up before the kids.  I'm shooting for 6am.

Daily Light on the Daily Path: The Classic Devotional Book For Every Morning and Evening in the Very Words of ScriptureQuite literally by the grace of God, I've fulfilled my 2010 commitment to the Message devotional and can move on to something more...literal.  I thought I might give Oswald Chambers a shot this year, but I've decided to rock the Daily Light instead.  I have a good feeling about this devotional and this year.

I'm also going to join my favorite crazy blonde Baptist and her estrogen-fueled acolytes in memorizing 24 scripture verses.  That's right.  I'm becoming one of Beth Moore's Siestas. Which means that by this time next year, I'll actually be able to spit out references instead of being like, "You know, in the Bible, it says..."
